Terms of service

Last updated: 17 May 2026

These terms govern your use of the filester mobile app and the web client at filester.app (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. The Service

filester moves files between two devices over an encrypted WebRTC data channel. Files are not stored on our servers. The Service may change over time as we improve it, fix bugs, or respond to legal or security requirements.

2. Accounts

You can use the basic Service as a guest. Some features — syncing device codes across devices, restoring purchases — require an account. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials private and for the activity that happens through your account.

You must be old enough to consent to data processing in your country (typically 13, 14, or 16). Don't impersonate someone else or sign up using credentials you don't own.

3. Pro subscription

Pro unlocks larger files, multi-file transfers, and fan-out to multiple recipients. Pro is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Pricing, currency, and renewal cadence are shown to you on the paywall before you buy.

4. Your content

The files you transfer are yours. We claim no rights over them and can't access them. You are responsible for:

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

We can suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the Service. Because file content never reaches us, enforcement happens at the account and broker layer (rate limits, code rotation, account suspension).

6. Availability

We aim to keep the Service running but don't promise uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, ISP routing, and the realities of peer-to-peer networking can disrupt individual transfers.

7. Intellectual property

The filester name, mark, and the software we publish are owned by us and our licensors. Using the Service doesn't transfer those rights to you. Open-source components included with filester are licensed under their respective licenses.

8. Warranty disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the Service will be error-free, secure, or always available.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, filester and its affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 50, whichever is greater.

10. Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, if we have to for legal or security reasons, or if we discontinue the Service.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. If a change is material we'll notify you in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the operating entity behind filester is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be brought in the courts of that jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring a claim in your country of residence.
